Furnitex Seminars: Redefining Modern
'Modern' isn't what it used to be (spare, monastic, mid-century and neutral), it’s definition has expanded and has become a well edited mix of periods and provenances. Linda will highlight the cultural influences and historical themes that are now re-defining “modern” and what and whom the industry will look to for future inspiration.
Linda O’Keeffe (New York)
Born in London, England, Linda studied languages and the various arts and pursued a career in journalistic photography which brought her to New York in 1973. For the next ten years Linda dabbled in acting, produced a line of jewellery, cooked professionally and began writing and fashion styling both in New York and West Berlin, where she lived for three of those years.
Around 1991, Linda decided to streamline her interests and concentrated on producing stories about interior design and architecture, a move which coincided with her joining the masthead of Elle Decor as a contributing special projects editor and at the beginning of 1994 Linda gave up the life of a freelancer and joined the staff of Metropolitan Home Magazine as Creative Director. As a regular writer and lecturer on design, Linda is currently writing two books on design.
