Australian Exhibitions and Conferences will deliver the 2010 State of Design Festival on behalf of the Victorian Government. Design Victoria is a key stakeholder in the State of Design Festival. State of Design, through Australian Exhibitions and Conferences and Design Victoria respect and treat personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act/Information Privacy Act (Vic). Personal or financial information provided for registration of State of Design will only be used by State of Design staff for the purposes for which it was collected. How any personal or financial information provided via the State of Design Festival website may be used:

Personal or financial information provided via the State of Design Festival website will only be used by State of Design Festival staff for the purposes for which it was collected.

These uses include:

  • Responding to events, conferences and award enquiries
  • Conducting administration processes associated with events, forums and workshop registrations and participation
  • Providing services including the State of Design e-newsletter
  • De-identified market research to support development of services and promotion of the Victorian design industry

Such information is stored securely, retained for no longer than is necessary or required by law (e.g. archiving legislation), and then disposed of lawfully and securely. We will ensure that any personal information will not be disclosed to other parties except if required by law or other regulation.

Email privacy and security:

When you send an email to the State of Design Festival (that is, to an address that ends with ‘@stateofdesign.com.au’), your email address and any personal information you provide may be kept for the purpose of dealing with the enquiry. You may request to have your personal details removed at any time if you do not want any more information or if the enquiry is concluded.

Technical identifying information collected from your visits to the State of Design Festival website:

A technically secure environment is in place for when personal or financial information is collected through the State of Design Festival website, to ensure that it cannot be accessed by other users or organisations. The network that hosts the State of Design Festival website has highly sophisticated security and publishing systems in place. Technically this includes:

Warning! Leaving personal information in chat rooms, web boards and bulletin boards:

The State of Design Festival cannot take responsibility for access to and use of personal information which you disclose in bulletin boards, chat rooms, web boards, e-communities, or on the State of Design Festival website. All such communication services require users to login; however, in line with safe internet use practice, you should generally not disclose any personal information in such forums.
