ABOUT
The Premier’s Design Awards highlight exemplar initiatives in and from Victoria where design has been used effectively, sustainably and strategically to innovate, increase productivity and/or boost competitiveness and exports.
It is the investment in and success through design that the awards seek to celebrate. Recognising the value of business / designer collaborations the awards are structured to reward both the commissioning organisation and designer(s). The awards aims and visions are:
- Recognise and reward excellence in the use of design
- Promote the economic, environmental and social benefits of investing in good design
- Partner with industry bodies and associations to identify the most exciting, innovative and effective applications of design
- Showcase the application of original, sustainable, innovative and groundbreaking design
- Highlight the capability of the Victorian design sector and of local designers
In 2010 there is a single awards category – the Premier’s Design Award. The winning recipients of this accolade are considered to be at the pinnacle of the use and application of design in Victoria. A maximum of five Premier’s Design Awards will be available for outstanding initiatives. For each of the winning initiatives, one award will be presented to the commissioning organisation and another to the designer(s) who developed and delivered the project. Another five initiatives will receive honourable mentions.
The recipients of the awards will be announced at the ceremony during the State of Design Festival.
