Presented by Object Gallery at the Melbourne Museum
The Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award Exhibition 2007 presents the best in ground-breaking contemporary functional designs. The 2007 group of designs include a bowl that pays reference to the humble aluminium can by Nick Rennie, John Smith’s sting ray-form chair and Simone LeAmon’s stainless steel votive candle holders.
Selected from over sixty of Australia’s finest contemporary designers, Melbourne Museum and Object Gallery are proud to showcase the work of the Award’s ten finalists for the second year in a row. The ten finalists are: Anthony Dann, Kelly Freeman & Rina Bernabei, Michael Hoppe, Simone LeAmon, Stefan Lie, Berto Pandolfo, Nick Rennie, Elliat Rich, John Smith and Edward Wong.
Rina Bernabei and Kelly Freeman were the 2007 Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award winners with their innovative Tote light. Along with the prestige of the Award the winners received $30,000 and a trip to the Milan Furniture Fair.
This exhibition is your opportunity to experience first-hand some of the most exciting design being produced in Australia right now.
