Brandon Gien
Executive Director, Australian International Design Awards
Brandon Gien is the Executive Director of the Australian International Design Awards, Australia’s longest standing national design awards program.
Brandon currently represents Australia as an Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID advocating on design policy, design for developing countries, universal design, design for sustainability, intellectual property protection, design education and design promotion.
Brandon also holds the position of General Manager, Design Strategy for Standards Australia. It coordinates standardisation activities, develops internationally aligned Australian Standards of public benefit and national interest and facilitates the accreditation of other Standards Development Organisations.
Brandon studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Newcastle where he later graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design. He is a professional member of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and the Design Institute of Australia (DIA). He is currently undertaking a Doctoral Thesis in Environmental Design at the University of Canberra.
